The Viking Powered Zenith 750 STOL

scroll through a few of our customers’ builds and completions. Maybe it will help give you inspiration for your own build.

With over 900 Viking engines in Zenith aircraft, this is not our first rodeo. It is our most widely used application with proven results, astonishing numbers for performance, which is escalated even more with the variable/constant speed propeller now offered. If you want maximum performance, you came to the right place with a plug and play system tested over the past decade. We have built over 6 Zenith aircraft, fly them all over the country and know the ins and outs of the aircraft, so much so we did the Zenith Aircraft Superduty prototype! We will help you every step of the engine installation (even if you need us to install it), and even through your aircraft build.

We looked at everything from Corvair to Rotax to UL, etc. We chose the Viking 130 for our 750 STOL. It runs and flies great, was easy to install and it is easy to maintain. We are going to build another plane and, if at all possible, it will have a Viking..or two..

We have been flying our 750 STOL for over a year now. No issues with the Viking 130. We just grin when we hear other small aircraft engines struggling to start and keep running in the cold weather when ours starts right up and sounds great!
— Bill
We have flown the CH750 STOL with both the 130 and the fuel injected Rotax912. At the time that we bought our kit, Viking was offering the 110. After much research, we chose the 110. When we ordered the engine, the 130 was almost ready and we were “early adopters.” It flies very well and the support is even better.
My only complaint is that the Viking 130 can’t control the weather or my work schedule..

110 in a 701, rocket ship. I have a 110 in the 750 and love it.

Don't get discouraged

" My name is Fred Westbrook, a few years ago, when my son Josh was about fourteen years old, we visited an airstrip, called Blue Swan in Sayre Pennsylvania. It was a grass strip with a dozen small aircraft and ultra lites. One gentleman was doing low flying up the strip and back. When he stopped, my son and I walked over to him and he showed us his ultra lite, and explained to us how it worked and that he has built it. My son and I were very impressed by it and spent some time checking it out and asking many questions. We told the man we were very interested and wanted someday try to get one and put it together. After looking at all the aircraft that were there, we decided it was time to go. The gentleman told my son and I, DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. This was an epiphany for us which will become clear to you later. A few years had passed and I asked my son if he would build an airplane with me. Well of course he said yes, we could not get going soon enough. We looked at many kits and decided to purchase the Zenith 750. It is a kit that comes in a large box about 4' x 4' x 12' long. It was a challenging and rewarding endeavor and took us about 4 years. We kept repeating what the man said to NOT GET DISCOURAGED. Finally it was done, and we got our airworthiness certificate to allow us to fly. After many times taxying and short hops it was time to take off. My son by this time was a private pilot and had taken lessons in this same model airplane. One Saturday morning I watched him take off and with no problems he was circling the field. It was very exciting and terrifying at the same time. We have totally enjoyed the building and flying experience for a few years now. It's been awesome. We put a small decal on the airplane by the door that says "Don't Get Discouraged". Why is this statement so important to us? The man at the Blue Swan Airport had no legs from the knees down. He was able to get from his wheel chair, into the ultra lite and fly it with special hand controls. Here is a man with no legs telling us to not get discouraged. It was a true epiphany for my son and I. The airport is gone, we never knew his name, or what has become of him. My son and I will never forget this kind man. Don't get discouraged."
